Today Outside Child is truly out in the wild – all 11 songs… and this record no longer even belongs to me – it belongs to each and every one of you who is open to receive it – and it will transform and shapeshift for each of you, have different meanings for each of you, each according to your own story and experiences… the great mystery and magic that is the sharing of art… I hope my baby finds loving hearts and ears and homes… I hope this song cycle, this particular journey might be of some use or solace or shelter or sustenance for some of you… I held nothing back – and neither did any of these brilliant artists who brought this child to life with me:

I will never be able to thank these artists or my intrepid, visionary team — my manager Carissa Stolting and Mara Miller, Margi Cheske, Stephanie Hopson and the whole Fantasy Family, the whole Concord family, Tom DeSavia and the whole Concord Music Publishing family, Meghan Helsel and Grandstand, Ken Beatty and Killbeat, Simon Fauteaux et Six Media, The Canada Council For the Arts, Luke Hill and Larry Saripkin – properly. I will never be able to adequately thank my loving community and chosen family… Thank you for hearing me, seeing me, uplifting me, ennobling me, supporting me. Most of all thank you to my daughter Ida and my partner in all things, JT – for teaching me how strong my love is – for meeting it equally.
See you tonight on Bandcamp, May 25th on Kimmel, May 28th for my Opry debut, later this summer at Newport Folk Festival and much more to come…
We are not alone.
We are not what we’ve lost.
We are more than the sum of our scars.
